Scant mention of health IT in party platforms

Both the Republican and Democratic national party platforms make little mention of health IT, offering only a single sentence each on their intentions for health IT. Some argue that the lack of detail may be due to the parties not fully understanding what committing to health IT will mean for the future. However, both parties seem to agree that health IT is important and can help address challenges in the healthcare system.
