Scots cancer patient hits out after major data breach of medical records at NHS Lothian by staff member

A member of NHS Lothian staff inappropriately accessed the medical records of approximately 90 patients, including a Scots cancer patient, in a major data breach. The health board informed the affected individuals via letter and is currently under investigation by the police. This is the second data breach involving NHS Lothian, following a similar incident in 2021 where medical records of more than 150 NHS staff were improperly accessed.
