Security issues reach beyond IT staff

Healthcare organizations are not taking the necessary steps to protect patient data, despite data breaches becoming more serious and intentional. Privacy and security will be a major topic at HIMSS15, with surveys showing that these issues are a top concern for healthcare providers. Data breaches could cost the industry over $5.6 billion annually, and there have already been millions of compromised patient records. Mac McMillan, CEO of CynergisTek, believes that the C-suite needs to view privacy and security as a core mission and not just an IT issue.
