Sensitive records office data accessed in cyber attack on health board

The IT network of NHS Dumfries and Galloway, which held data from the National Records of Scotland (NRS), suffered a cyber attack in March 2024. Data pertaining to fewer than 50 individuals, including sensitive and registry information, was temporarily stored on this network. NRS has launched a live criminal investigation in collaboration with various agencies and has set up a mailbox for public inquiries.
