Sheffield council breaches national deal over cleaner pay

Sheffield City Council has reportedly breached the Local Government Pay Agreement, refusing to pay the 2022 and 2023 wage increases to its lowest paid workers, mainly women. The council’s move leaves these workers 61p per hour worse off than their peers. The GMB union has urged incoming leadership candidates to commit to addressing this issue.
