Should the U.S. government be able to force tech companies to share encrypted data?

A survey of 500 IT security professionals found that 66% believe governments should not have access to encrypted user data, while 34% believe they should. The majority of the participants prioritized personal privacy over investigative needs. Additionally, 63% of the participants believed that government officials do not understand the vulnerability of digital infrastructure to cyber attacks. The survey also addressed the controversial issue of encryption backdoors and found that 65% believe security would be worse if they were mandated.
