Some US Lawmakers Want to Restrict American Companies From Working on RISC-V Chip Technology

US President Joe Biden is under increasing pressure to stop American tech companies working on a chip technology, RISC-V, widely used in China, amid fears that Beijing is exploiting US expertise to develop its own semiconductor industry, threatening US dominance in the sector. However, firms warn that any government restrictions would be a “tremendous tragedy” akin to “banning us from working on the internet”.
