South east London hospitals cyber attack: NHS IT system ‘out of date’
A cyber attack on NHS hospitals in south east London resulted in the postponement of over 6,000 appointments and procedures in June. The data stolen in the ransomware attack was later published online. Ciaran Martin noted that aged IT systems and poor security in parts of the NHS were major issues. Outpatient appointments and pre-scheduled procedures were the services most seriously disrupted.
