States push back on Trump admin’s request for COVID-19 vaccine patient data

Several state governments have resisted sharing information about individuals who received the COVID-19 vaccine with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Concerns about privacy have been raised, with some officials worried that sharing information could discourage undocumented people from getting vaccinated. The Trump administration argues that the data is necessary to track the national uptake of the vaccine and to assist individuals who may receive one dose and then travel across state lines before getting the second dose.
