Steam Adds Security Layer for Devs After Some Had Their Accounts Compromised and Malware Was Injected in Games

Valve has added an extra security layer to its Steam series for developers following a malware attack. Every Steamworks account must now link its phone number to the site so a confirmation text can be sent for each operation. This new requirement follows a breach in which hackers uploaded malware onto some developers’ pages. Games affected were not widely downloaded, thus impacting fewer than 100 users.
