Stolen test data and NHS numbers published by hospital hackers
A cyber gang called Qilin has published sensitive patient data stolen from Synnovis, a blood testing company for the NHS, after hacking the firm on June 3. The data, amounting to 400GB, includes personal details and blood tests descriptions. This has disrupted over 3,000 hospital and GP appointments and operations. Qilin has been trying to extort money from Synnovis. Cybersecurity expert Ciaran Martin labelled it as one of the UK’s most significant and harmful cyber-attacks.
