Studies aim to identify adolescent girls who are at risk of developing migraine headaches

Hadas Nahman-Averbuch, PhD, a scientist at Washington University is leading two studies to better understand adolescent migraine susceptibility and disorders. Aimed at exploring the neurological subtleties such as why some adolescent girls are more migraine-prone or how puberty impacts migraines, the studies are funded by a $6 million grant from the NIH. Existing treatment for young migraine survivors are inadequate, necessitating intensive research into adolescent-focused measures.
