Study: 46 percent of practices don’t qualify as medical homes
Nearly half of physician practices in the US do not meet national standards to qualify as a medical home, according to a study led by the University of Michigan Health System. The findings are concerning as the medical home model is seen as providing higher quality, more cost-efficient care. The study also found that disparities in healthcare could be exacerbated as vulnerable populations, such as those living in poverty, are more likely to see doctors in practices that do not meet medical home standards.
