Study reveals high failure rate for tubal sterilization as birth control
A study from UC San Francisco revealed that tubal sterilization, a common contraception method, fails 3 – 5% of the time, resulting in unplanned pregnancies. The researchers suggest alternative contraception like contraceptive arm implants or intrauterine devices (IUDs) that are usually more effective. The study data was collected from over 31,000 women, including 4,184 who reported having undergone tubal sterilization.
