Symantec, Allscripts partner on privacy and security

Symantec has partnered with Allscripts to launch a new tool called Allscripts Privacy & Security Risk Assessment, which automates the process of assessing a medical practice’s privacy and security risks. The tool is designed to help physicians qualify for federal incentives for electronic health record (EHR) adoption by demonstrating that they meet security requirements under meaningful use Stage 1 criteria and conducting a privacy and security risk analysis under HIPAA guidelines. The tool provides a single place to complete the review of administrative, technical, and physical safeguards as defined by HIPAA, and produces comprehensive reports immediately upon completing the assessment. It is offered as a web-based application and is applicable for any EHR.
