Synnovis attack highlights degraded, outdated state of NHS IT

Experts have warned that the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) is at risk of cyber attacks due to outdated IT equipment and infrastructure, highlighted by the June ransomware attack on pathology provider Synnovis. The British Medical Association has revealed that doctors are losing 13 million hours annually due to poor systems, equating to a loss of £1bn. Solutions suggested include improved IT infrastructure and best practice identification of vulnerable points.
