Te Whatu Ora loses access to 14,000 health data following cyberattack
Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand is investigating a cyber incident that impacted access to thousands of data related to bereavement and cardiac services. Approximately 8,500 bereavement care services records and 5,500 records from the cardiac inherited disease registry were inaccessible, but there is no evidence of unauthorized access or downloads. Six other health regulatory authorities were also affected. The organization is working with government agencies and cybersecurity experts to determine the full nature and potential impact of the incident. Investigations are still ongoing.
