Telecommunications Breakdown: How Russian Telco Infrastructure was Exposed

UpGuard, the cyber risk consultant, has discovered a storage device containing 1.7 TB of sensitive data detailing plans for telecoms installations throughout Russia. Until recently, the files were hosted on an rsync server for public accessibility and highlight several major telecom providers, including Nokia and Mobile TeleSystems. The data includes administrative credentials, email archives, diagrams and materials related to infrastructure projects, most specifically SORM, the system for intercepting communications for review by Russian law enforcement agencies.
