The Last Thing America Needs Right Now Is Bird Flu

Six employees at a Colorado chicken farm have tested positive for bird flu, marking the largest human outbreak in the U.S. The fast-spreading H5N1 strain of the virus has been found in over 100 million birds in 48 states and, for the first time, in American cattle. Although the virus has been deemed a low threat to humans, scientists are monitoring the situation for changes that could allow human-to-human transmission.
