Gastroenterologist Dominique E. Howard calls for an expansion in non-invasive screening methods in order to catch and prevent colorectal cancer more effectively. He notes that despite being the second most common cause of cancer death, colorectal cancer is very preventable, especially when detected early. He advocates for more accurate and reliable non-invasive screening and an increased use of colonoscopy and the at-home screening method, Cologuard®, both of which have been shown to successfully detect more than 90% of colorectal cancers.
