The Weaponization of AI and ML is Complicating the Digital Battlefield
The US Department of Defense (DoD) faces a large challenge in implementing zero-trust security principles amidst growing cyber threats, especially those involving AI and machine learning (ML). The adoption and effective use of AI and ML are also crucial for bolstering defense capabilities. To address this, the DoD has released a comprehensive Zero Trust Overlays guide, aiming to standardise zero-trust implementation across the board. The guide focuses on creating a data-centric mindset and spreading awareness of a zero-trust approach through advanced training methods. Successful implementation is not expected until 2027, meanwhile, cooperation with the private sector is regarded as beneficial to keep abreast of threat advancements and best practices.
