Thirty-three US Hospitals Hit By Ransomware This Year

In 2023, at least 19 US healthcare organizations have fallen victim to ransomware attacks, up from 25 for the whole of the previous year, according to threat analyst Brett Callow of Emsisoft. Data was stolen in 84% of these cases, compared to 68% in the preceding year. These cybersecurity vulnerabilities are not limited to the US, with UK healthcare experiencing a 22% rise in attempted attacks.
