This is how much the WannaCry ransomware attack cost the NHS
The WannaCry ransomware attack cost the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) nearly £100m ($129m) according to the Department of Health. The attack, which used leaks from the US National Security Agency (NSA), led to the cancellation of 19,000 appointments and affected one third of NHS hospital trusts, as well as around 8% of GP practices. Despite a patch being released ahead of the attack, some NHS Trusts failed to update their systems. The financial cost of the attack also included £72m spent to fix the damage and ensure the security of future systems.
