Thousands of blood test samples set to be destroyed after NHS cyberattack

A cyberattack on healthcare services in London run by Guy’s and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, has severely hit GP practices’ capacity to carry out blood tests. Believed to be the result of ransomware from Russian cybercriminals, thousands of samples may now have to be destroyed. The attack also caused the cancellation of more than 200 operations and outpatient appointments, including urgent cancer referrals.
