Thousands of hospital appointments and procedures postponed after cyber attack
Following a June 3 ransomware attack by cyber criminals, nearly 5,000 outpatient appointments and over 1,300 pre-planned procedures have been deferred at two NHS Foundation Trust hospitals. Pathology services are running at 54% capacity, with urgent and emergency services still available. NHS England confirmed that stolen data has been published online, but asserts that the criminals did not publish an entire database. The NHS seeks O positive and negative blood donors to help alleviate the attack’s effects.
