Thousands of hospital appointments and procedures postponed after cyber attack
A cyber attack on major London hospitals in June has led to over 6,000 appointments and procedures being postponed. Two hospital trusts were severely hit by the attack leading to the postponement of 1,653 procedures and outpatient appointments within a week. The disruption caused to pathology services remains significant. As recovery efforts continue, the public is being asked to donate O type blood to help the hospitals cope with the crisis. Russian cyber gang, Qilin, is suspected to be behind the attack.
