Treating the Shortage of Black Doctors

Medical schools in the US, including the University of Mississippi, are endeavouring to enrol more underrepresented Black, Hispanic and Native American students. However, Republican opposition in many states is threatening these diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. Critics argue focusing on race could create unnecessary division and funds would be better utilised elsewhere, while proponents believe allowing patients to choose doctors of their own race could enhance health outcomes.
