Companies failing to pay employees the national minimum wage (NMW) could face fines, warned Ian Goodwin from Mazars. HMRC’s latest list of non-compliant companies had failed to pay workers properly, leading to fines of £7m ($9.12m). New risks include issues with staff using personal phones for filming social media content, checking rotas or pay details, potentially lowering their pay to beneath the NMW. Unpaid festival roles that offer attendees free entry or other benefits could also be deemed as employment and have NMW rules applied.
