Trump nominates EY cybersecurity exec as new VA CIO
President Trump has nominated James Paul Gfrerer as the Department of Veterans Affairs assistant secretary for information and technology. Gfrerer is currently an executive director at Ernst and Young, with a focus on cybersecurity. If confirmed, he would also serve as the VA’s Chief Information Officer, the first permanent CIO since March 2017. The VA recently launched its Office of Electronic Health Record Modernization, with the EHR project expected to go live by 2020.
