President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Tom Bossert as the White House homeland security and counterterrorism advisor. The position has been elevated to an assistant to the president, on par with the National Security Advisor. This move may signal that Trump places high importance on cybercrime. Bossert will focus on domestic and transnational security priorities, while National Security Adviser nominee, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, will be in charge of international security challenges.
