U.S. charges Russian officers in Yahoo hacking

The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has indicted four individuals, including two Russian Federal Security Service officers, for hacking into Yahoo’s network and stealing information from at least 500 million user accounts. The stolen information was allegedly used for financial gain and to access accounts of journalists, government officials, and employees of financial companies. The US Attorney General stated that cybercrime is a significant threat and that the US will investigate and prosecute such attacks.
