Ubuntu will manually review Snap Store after crypto wallet scams
Following months of fraudulent crypto wallet uploads, Snap Store, which distributes apps for Ubuntu’s Linux, has implemented manual review of apps before they’re made available. This decision comes after reports by ex-Canonical/Ubuntu worker, Alan Pope, who highlighted cases of bitcoin investors losing their digital assets to false ‘Exodus Wallet’ apps. Canonical is also considering a strict publication policy for crypto wallets.
