UCSD Health Using Federal Grant to Develop Ransomware Strategies
The University of California San Diego School of Medicine has received a $9.5m federal grant from the US Department of Health and Human Services to study prevention of ransomware attacks. The research will be conducted via the newly established Center for Healthcare Cybersecurity, exploring solutions to healthcare data breaches which cost the industry an average of $11m annually, according to a 2023 IBM report.
