UK battles hacking wave as ransomware gang claims ‘biggest ever’ NHS breach

The largest NHS trust in the UK, Barts Health, which serves over 2.5 million patients, is currently under investigation for a ransomware incident. This marks a rising wave of cyberattacks in the country’s public sector. The ALPHV ransomware gang, also known as BlackCat, claims to have stolen 70TB of data and added the trust to a dark web leak site – the group purports this to be the biggest healthcare data breach in the UK. It appears to be the second breach of NHS data in recent weeks.
