UK battles hacking wave as ransomware gang claims ‘biggest ever’ NHS breach
The UK’s largest NHS trust, Barts Health, is investigating a huge ransomware attack from the gang known as ALPHV, otherwise known as BlackCat, who claim they have stolen 70 terabytes of sensitive data involving over 2.5 million patients. The attack could be the largest healthcare data breach in the UK to date. NHS England and the National Cyber Security Centre are also investigating. This incident follows recent cyberattacks on the University of Manchester and British outsourcing giant Capita.
