UK Healthcare Accounts for 43% of all Breaches

The UK health sector accounted for 43% of the total 2,447 reported cybersecurity incidents between 2014 and 2016, according to the Information Commissioner’s Office and Egress Software Technologies. However, the sector also has a legal obligation to report such events, whereas industries including retail and education do not. Of the health sector incidents, 24% were due to theft or paperwork loss, while the incorrect recipient receiving data accounted for 28% of cases.
