UK lowers Covid alert level as hospital admissions fall
The UK has decreased its Covid-19 alert level from five to four in light of decreased hospital admissions, but officials warn that the situation is still grave. Declining from its highest level for the first time since early January, the decision came after advice from the Joint Biosecurity Centre, emphasising that the disease is still widely spread and transmission remains high. The health services of all four UK nations are still under substantial strain, but the likelihood of them becoming overwhelmed within 21 days has lessened.
