Britain’s government could save billions of pounds by addressing poorly maintained infrastructure and outdated IT systems, says National Audit Office (NAO) head Gareth Davies. Davies cited issues such as cost overruns in large projects like HS2 and the new hospitals programme and suggested cost savings could be made in infrastructure, IT systems, and fraud reduction. Davies said the government must prioritise Whitehall efficiency to achieve these potential savings.
