Ukrainian Hacker Suspected to be Behind “Free Download Manager” Malware Attack

The Free Download Manager (FDM) website was used to distribute malicious Linux software due to a security incident in 2020. A Ukrainian hacker group exploited a webpage on the site to distribute the malware to a small subset of users. The issue affected less than 0.1% of visitors and was unknowingly resolved during a 2022 site update. FDM released a script for users to check for the malware but does not remove it.
