UnitedHealth CISO: Ransomware ‘an existential risk to the delivery of care’

Aimee Cardwell, CISO for Optum Technology, will discuss the current threat landscape and best defenses against ransomware in a session at the HIMSS Healthcare Cybersecurity Forum. Ransomware is a major threat to healthcare organizations, causing significant damages and downtime. Other threats include zero-day vulnerabilities and supply chain attacks. Cardwell recommends preventive measures such as email filtering, stronger passwords, multi-factor authentication, software patching, and user education. The session will air on December 6.
