Universal Health Services (UHS) has reported an estimated pre-tax impact of $67 million due to a cyberattack in 2020. This impact was mainly attributed to lost operating income as patient activity decreased and was diverted to competitor facilities. UHS suspended IT operations and used backup processes to deliver patient care. UHS expects to recover the majority of the financial impact through insurance coverage.
