Unpatchable 0-day in surveillance cam is being exploited to install Mirai

Hackers are exploiting a critical five-year-old vulnerability in the AVM1203 surveillance device from Taiwan-based manufacturer AVTECH, to propagate Mirai malware and launch distributed denial-of-service attacks. Network security provider Akamai reports that the AVM1203, which is no longer sold or supported, is an easy target for attackers and cannot be updated to remedy the vulnerability. The hackers have been actively exploiting the vulnerability since March.
