Urgent call for O-type blood donations following London hospitals ransomware attack

England’s National Health Service (NHS) has appealed for O-type blood donations after a ransomware attack disrupted blood matching services at several London healthcare organisations. The attack, suspected to be by the Russian Qilin ransomware gang, hit Synnovis, a provider of pathology services for hospitals. As a result, hospitals are using more of their O-type blood stocks, a “universal” blood type safe for numerous receivers.
