Urgent NHS call for blood donors after cyber attack delays transfusions

“NHS England has urgently called for blood type O+ and O- donors following a cyber attack on Synnovis. Available surgical appointments have been impacted by prioritising urgent cases due to the attack. The demand is for O type blood as it can be used for all patients, and to keep surgery and transfusion possible during the ongoing situation. Only 8% of the population has O- blood, but it accounts for 15% of hospital orders.”
