US and UK blame North Korea for WannaCry
The governments of the UK and US have officially blamed North Korea for this year’s WannaCry cyber attack, which has reportedly impacted more than 300,000 computers across 150 countries. Thomas Bossert, who advises US President Donald Trump on homeland security, said this was “based on evidence” that North Korea led the attack, without evidence being officially supplied. In the wake of the announcement, the UK Foreign Office also blamed North Korea for using cyber programmes to avoid sanctions.
