US charges Russian military officers for unleashing wiper malware on Ukraine
Six Russian nationals have been indicted by US prosecutors for allegedly hacking Ukraine’s government networks and stealing sensitive data. Five of the accused served in Russian military intelligence agency, Unit 29155. They are alleged to have used malware, WhisperGate, to destroy computers and backing military operations in Ukraine. The conspiracy also targeted backing countries including 26 NATO countries and the US. The Justice Department has offered a $10 million reward for information leading to their capture or activity.
