The US government has emerged one of the biggest Bitcoin (BTC) holders, maintaining 194,188 BTC worth about $5.3bn, despite selling several thousand Bitcoins earlier in 2021, according to data analysed by 21.co. The statistics indicate total US government holdings based on publicly available information. The government stores its holdings on offline encrypted hardware wallets kept by the Justice Department and the Internal Revenue Service.
