Utah Amends Cybersecurity and Data Breach Notification Law

Amendments to Utah’s cybersecurity and data breach notification law took effect on May 1, 2024. The regulations now require businesses and governmental bodies to prevent misuse of personal information and report any security breaches. In case of a data leak, the company must notify affected Utah residents, and in serious cases bring the incident to the attention of the Utah Attorney General’s Office and the Utah Cyber Center.
