VA launches nationwide ‘game-changer’ research

The Department of Veterans Affairs has launched an initiative that aims to consolidate genetic, military exposure, health and lifestyle information into one database. The program will be used by authorized researchers to conduct health and wellness studies to determine genetic variations and their link to health issues. The program could advance disease screening, diagnosis, prognosis and therapy. The initiative is expected to achieve national participation over the next five to seven years.
