VA, UL collaboration advances case for medical device security standards
The United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has partnered with UL, a safety certification company, to conduct a two-year research project on medical device cybersecurity. The collaboration aimed to establish the value of standards for ensuring the security of Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) devices. The report highlighted the need for better pre-procurement vetting, post-procurement product management, and improved endpoint security. The goal is to enhance patient security and safety, improve the allocation of cybersecurity resources, and accelerate the adoption of innovative healthcare technologies.
